MAD Introduction
材料与加工工艺是设计专业的重要基础知识，材料学内容庞大而且边界在无限拓展，与之配合的加工工艺也日新月异。以服务师生对材料与加工工艺的学习和研究为基本功能，同济大学设计创意学院材料与应用创新实验室营造有效条件，更冀望激励以材料与工艺驱动设计创新。实验室科研项目注重探索材料世界的无限可能，以独特材料和新型加工工艺驱动设计创新，服务于可持续的生活方式，以设计力量提升生活品质。实验室与企业合作的实践项目涵盖室内，家具和产品设计，着重于新型材料的开发和应用，并重以现代造型语汇传承传统工艺，并将抽象概念落地成型，通过材料质感丰富使用体验。
Material and manufacture process are the fundamental knowledge of design profession. The boundary of the material is expending, same as the development of manufacture process. The goal of the Material and Application Innovation Lab is to serve the material and manufacturing process learning and research for College of Design and Innovation of Tongji University, further on to encourage the material and manufacture driven design and innovation. The research target is to discover the infinity possibility of material world, exploring the innovative material and its manufacturing, serving for the sustainable living and living quality improvement. The co-operative practices with enterprises are covered from interior design, furniture design and product design. The design concept is always focus on unique material or emerging technology to demonstrate design acumen, express the characteristic of material through design with traditional craft to modern visual language, from an obscure idea to the final realization.
